Synchronous Firing in a Population of Inhibitory Interneurons Coupled by Electrical and Chemical Synapses

چکیده
The synchronization phenomena occurring in a population of Fast Spiking interneurons, coupled by electrical and inhibitory synapses, are investigated. It is shown numerically that there are regions of the coupling parameters space where synchronous regimes occur. The corresponding theoretical results agree with the numerical ones. It is shown that the presence of the electrical coupling in a heterogeneous population of inhibitory FS cells promote their synchronous discharge.

Synchrony of Fast-Spiking Interneurons Interconnected by GABAergic and Electrical Synapses
Fast-spiking (FS) interneurons have specific types (Kv3.1/3.2 type) of the delayed potassium channel, which differ from the conventional Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) type potassium channel (Kv1.3 type) in several aspects. In this study, we show dramatic effects of the Kv3.1/3.2 potassium channel on the synchronization of the FS interneurons. We show analytically that two identical electrically coupled F...

Neocortical inhibitory Fast-Spiking interneurons are interconnected by electrical synapses (gap-junctions) and control the spike discharge of pyramidal neurons. In this report, by using a biophysical model of a Fast-Spiking interneuron, the synchronization properties of a population of coupled model cells are investigated. In the case the cells interact only by inhibitory synapses, well defined...

GABAergic interneurons in many areas of the neocortex are mutually connected via chemical and electrical synapses. Previous computational studies have explored how these coupling parameters influence the firing patterns of interneuronal networks. These models have predicted that the stable states of such interneuronal networks will be either synchrony (near zero phase lag) or antisynchrony (pha...

By using a single compartment biophysical model of a fast spiking interneuron the synchronization properties of a pair of cells, coupled by electrical and inhibitory synapses, are investigated. The inhibitory and excitatory synaptic couplings are modeled in order to reproduce the experimental time course of the corresponding currents. It is shown that increasing the conductance value of the ele...
متن کاملStochastic Synchrony of Chaos in a Pulse-Coupled Neural Network with Both Chemical and Electrical Synapses Among Inhibitory Neurons
The synchronous firing of neurons in a pulse-coupled neural network composed of excitatory and inhibitory neurons is analyzed. The neurons are connected by both chemical synapses and electrical synapses among the inhibitory neurons. When electrical synapses are introduced, periodically synchronized firing as well as chaotically synchronized firing is widely observed. Moreover, we find stochasti...
